Sauna bastu – residenssiohjelma
Taiteilija sukella Suomalaiseen sauna kulttuuriin, tule Malaktalle residenssiin ja sauno luovuuden lähteelle!
Tarjolla on elokuusta 1-2 kk mittainen residenssi Malaktalla, pääset mukaan aktiiviseen monitaiteelliseen yhteisöön, saat käyttöösi asunnon ja työtilan, sekä monipuoliset tilat omaan taiteelliseen työskentelyyn.
Residenssin hinta on 1850 € / kk. Sis. asuminen, työtila, saunan käyttö ja liput Kaj konserttiin 9.8, Åminne Folkpark.

Konstnär dyk ner i finländsk bastukultur, kom till Malakta för en konstnärsresidens och basta till kreativitetens källa!
En 1-2 månaders residens i Malakta är tillgänglig från augusti, där du blir en del av ett aktivt tvärvetenskapligt samhälle, har tillgång till en lägenhet och egen ateljé, samt mångsidiga faciliteter för ditt eget konstnärliga arbete.
Priset för residenset är 1850 €/månad. Inkl. boende, ateljé, tillgång till bastu och biljetter till Kaj-konserten den 9.8 i Åminne Folkpark.

Sauna Bastu – residency program
Artist, dive into Finnish sauna culture, come to Malakta for an artist residency and bath sauna to the source of creativity!
A 1-2-month residency in Malakta is available from August. You will join an active multidisciplinary art community, have access to an apartment and workspace, and versatile facilities for your own artistic work.
The price of the residency package is 1850 € / month. Includes housing, workspace, use of the sauna and tickets to the Kaj concert on 9.8 at Åminne Folkpark.

The aim of the Malakta Artist in Residency (AiR) programme is to provide a creative space where artists can work, develop, share, interact and experiment as well as a space for inner reflection and recharge.
Malakta is located in the middle of a beautiful and quiet countryside, and is a family friendly residence. We have artist families as permanent habitants and our community of artists is active daily, so atmosphere is welcoming, life filled and safe. And by the way, we have two saunas!
The residency is suitable for both individual artist and groups and families. We offer access to a range of studios and work facilities, and a place to meet with other creative people in a cozy and collaborative community. We encourage applications from a wide range of artists of different cultural and geographic backgrounds. We are open for applications for all phases – from initial research to finishing works.
For our artists we offer possibilities to hold artist talks, exhibitions, engage with community arts activities and to realize collaborative projects. Tailored individually. We want artists also to experience the beautiful Ostrobothnian nature and culture.
The Malakta AiR offers private sleeping rooms with access to shared kitchen and bathroom facilities which all are located at Heal Inn. Heal Inn is a space for wellness and recovery. Wooden floor and nordic light create good vibes for dance, yoga and meditation.
Working studio is to be chosen according to each artist’s needs and wishes.
For selected artists we offer possibilities to hold artist talks, exhibitions, engage with community arts activities, realize collaborative projects and to experience the beautiful Ostrobothnian nature and culture.
Working and Studios
Studio Toivo, is on the top of Malakta, a space with high ceiling and windows from all directions allowing light to flow through.
Studio Eila, also on the same floor as Toivo. The studio has a massive fireplace and a nice view over Malax river and the courtyard.
Spray tower – A cozy space with acoustics perfect for arranging concerts, performances and exhibitions, the multifunctional heart of Malakta. With access to the garden with fruit trees and herbs. There are also chickens and rabbits.
Also a wide range of workshops are accessible for the artists, with basic tools for wood, metal, clay, textile and graffiti. Graphic print space and a darkroom.
Other facilities
We have two wood fired saunas and the possibility to go swimming in the river just beside them. Malakta is located at the coastline in ostrobothnia and there is not a long bike ride to the sea.
In the courtyard there is a fireplace for evening grills and get-togethers.
Getting around
There are bikes at the residency for artists to use and food stores nearby. There are also possibilities to carpooling with other artists in Malakta or local buses to get around.

- Project plan / artist statement of short and straight forward (approximately 500 words) outlying how you wish to spend your time at Malakta, please also specify preferred residency duration and dates.
- 6-10 images of work (max 10mb files in total) or links to online videos.

Fees:
The programme fee is 1850€ per month. We will provide chosen artists a detailed letter of invitation to help with funding opportunities.
