ART in MALAKTA IS ANNOUNCING AN OPEN CALL FOR PROFESSIONAL ARTISTS

Theme: Dialogue with the rural

The association Art in Malakta that manages and runs the artistic and cultural activities and events at Art Factory Malakta in Malax, Western Finland, is in 2020 for the first time ever presenting a mural painting festival in Ostrobothnia.

We are looking for professional artists with a strong background in mural arts that are interested in exploring mural art in a rural setting.

The selected artist(s) will, during a two-week period, work on one mural painting in a pre-selected location in the village of Malax, Finland. They will also participate in the Mural Rural festival, that is going to be arranged at and around Art Factory Malakta on Saturday the 17th October. The selected artist can also be asked to participate in community-based or participatory events or other activities aimed at the general public such as artist talks.

The selected artist(s) will be provided with travel, accommodation and a fee. All materials will be paid for. The selected artist will be working together with and as a part of the artist community at Art Factory Malakta.

The theme of the Open Call is “Dialogue with the rural” – it can be an aesthetical or conceptual dialogue with the surrounding area and community; it can be  a comment on the Ostrobothnian landscape; it can be an expression of your own experiences of the rural.
