Malakta Dance Film Lab with Helena Jónsdóttir 24.-27.8.2017

Malakta Dance film Lab (MDFL) is an established international gathering of dance film makers, choreographers and dancers at Art Factory Malakta. The MDFL gives participants the opportunity to explore the dance film genre both hands-on and in-depth, through collaborative experimentation and creation in an open and inspiring atmosphere opening up new ways of working with dance and film. Art Factory Malakta, in collaboration with the Regional Dance Centre of Ostrobothnia has been arranging intensive dance film labs since 2012.

MDFL2017

The renowned and respected Icelandic choreographer, film maker, artist and educator Helena Jónsdóttir returns to lead the intensive laboratory. Helena is a highly experienced, qualified and inspiring artist and pedagogue, and an innovator in the field of Physical Cinema and Dance on Screen.

The theme for the Lab 2017 is GO FIGURE – the Lab delves into how to develop an idea in terms of location and character, working with layers and other aspect of structure.

All participants are asked to bring an idea that they would like to work with during the Lab – this can be something that is in progress already or a new undeveloped idea.
